Diwali Sweets Guide: What to Serve and Gift in the UK
Diwali is the festival of lights and, for many families, the biggest sweet-sharing time of the year. If you are planning what to serve or give this Diwali in the UK, here is a simple guide to the sweets and snacks that suit the occasion, and how to order them with enough time.

Sweets and snacks that suit Diwali
Magaj is traditionally made for occasions such as Diwali and is just as welcome at weddings and parties. Its nutty, ghee-rich flavour makes it a good centrepiece. Chevdo is a Gujarati teatime snack served at Diwali and other celebrations, so it balances a sweet tray with something crunchy.
Other Gujarati sweets that fit a festive table include Methi Pak, Gundar Pak, Adadiya Pak and Panjiri. These are traditionally winter sweets, and Diwali falls as the weather turns cooler, so they suit the season well. For tea, add Nankhatai or Karachi biscuits.
How to build a Diwali tray
- Two or three sweets in different textures, such as Magaj (soft and crumbly), Methi Pak (bitter-sweet) and Adadiya Pak (rich and spiced).
- One savoury, such as Chevdo, to cut through the sweetness.
- A biscuit for tea, such as Nankhatai.
A 500g box is plenty to share as part of a mixed tray for a family. Choose 1kg when you are hosting a larger gathering or giving gifts to several households.

Giving sweets at Diwali
Exchanging sweets with family, friends and neighbours is part of the festival. Homemade sweets feel more personal than a shop-bought box. You can order for yourself and for gifts in the same basket and choose the delivery date at checkout, so a gift can arrive in time for the day.
When to order
Everything is made fresh to order, so please allow about 10 days, and order earlier in Diwali week when demand is highest. The date of Diwali changes each year, so check the calendar and choose your delivery date a few days before you need the sweets. Sweets and biscuits are best eaten within 4 weeks, so you can safely order ahead.
A gift hamper
For a larger gift, our gift hamper comes as Sweets, Savouries or Mixed. It is made to order, so please allow 20 days.
